What Is the Process for Getting a Porcelain Inlay or Onlay?
First, we’ll thoroughly numb the tooth to keep you comfortable during your
appointment.
Next, we’ll remove any decay and prepare the tooth for restoration. For an
onlay, this can involve making the top portion of the tooth shorter and
skinnier.
Once the tooth is prepared, we’ll take an impression, which we’ll send to a
dental laboratory. They’ll fabricate the restorations, a process that can
take a few weeks. In the meantime, we’ll create a temporary inlay or onlay
you can wear.
What Can I Expect at the Delivery Appointment?
We’ll numb the tooth we’re working on that day. Then, we’ll remove the
temporary. Your Oxnard dentist will place your new inlay or onlay and make
sure it fits well and that your bite feels balanced.
If everything looks good, we’ll disinfect the tooth and bond the
restoration to it.
