How Does a Tooth Extraction Work?
At See Me Smile Dental of Oxnard, a tooth extraction procedure is typically
done with a local anesthetic to numb the area around the tooth. Our team is
highly experienced in performing tooth extractions in a safe and effective
manner.
Once the area around the tooth is numb, your Oxnard dentist may loosen the
tooth by gently rocking it back and forth in the socket before removing it
from the jawbone. The dentist may also make an incision through the gum
tissue and remove the tooth with forceps or use a high speed drill. The
tooth to be removed may also need to be cut into small pieces before being
taken out. After the tooth extraction, our team will place a gauze pad over
the socket to help stop the bleeding.
Once your extraction is healed, we can replace the missing tooth using a
variety of methods, including dentures, dental bridges, and dental
implants, if necessary.
